NAFAS Masquerade held in Leicester - 10th to 12 August 2018
Floral Artists from across the country descended on Leicester for Masquerade with the excitement from delegates that they could attend  workshops, compete, attend the ball and share all these experiences with other like minded flower arranging delegates; delegates included many of the biggest names including NAFAS National Teachers, National Judges, National Speakers and National Demonstrators.
The biggest event for competitors was the final heat to choose which designer would represent NAFAS, and the UK, at the World Association of Flower Arrangers (WAFA); Diggi Palace, Jaipur, February 26th to March 1st 2020. Each competitor was given a space - 1 metre x 1 metre x 2 metre space to create their entry. These competitors were the winners from each of the 21 NAFAS areas; from earlier heats for their respective areas and Gill was the winner of the NAFAS area 'London and Overseas'.
Gill, being a prolific designer, is always bringing new ideas into her work and really  wanted to wow the many delegates with these new design concepts to produce an entry that would show the world the new direction that UK flower arranging was now able to achieve.
Gill's Floral Art Design incorporated two different model heads, skin texture derived from applying ground paprika, and that each would present different exotic floral hair styles; all made from living plant materials.
To complete the design ensemble Gill included two further areas using other floral flowers made from tree bark and tree fir cones with a mixture of different leaf manipulation techniques and as Gill is often heard to say " I believe leaf manipulation has really revolutionised floral design"Â
Gill's entry enjoyed countless glowing compliments from delegates and other competitors alike and won '1st reserve'
Congratulations are wished to the winner - Linda Porrett - SUSSEX AREA, who took the top position for her design
